Town's name
It derives from Old Polish “znieja” and has an agricultural origin. According to various sources it signifies “harvest”, “harvester” or “a woman harvesting crops”. The town's name changed over the centuries. Znin used to be called Znein, Znejn, Znejna, Snena, Znen and Znyn.
